Chapter 1 of Athernis : The Eternal Adventure of a Legend
Rebirth of a Legend
Once upon a time, there lived a great man named Sagar Kewat.
He was strong, talented, and wise. Through sheer determination and effort, he amassed a fortune so vast that he became one of the richest men alive on planet Earth.
But like all mortals, time eventually caught up to him. He died peacefully of old age.
His enormous wealth? Hidden—vanished into secrecy. No one ever discovered where it was kept.
What the world did not know, however, was that Sagar Kewat had preserved his body in ice before his death, believing that perhaps, one day, humanity would develop the technology to revive him.

Centuries passed.
In the year 30XX, a mysterious and infamous organization rose from the shadows: Evocation Phorica. Renowned in the underworld for their dangerous experiments, they bent science beyond morality.
One day, the organization stumbled upon a discovery that would change everything.
The frozen body of none other than Sagar Kewat.
With limitless resources and unmatched technology, the scientists built a new robotic body and transplanted Sagar's preserved brain into it. Their ambition was simple—control his mind, his skills, and perhaps, even uncover the hidden fortune of the man the world once feared and respected.
But the scientists had made a mistake.
The soul of Sagar Kewat had never left this world.
When the body awoke, his soul reclaimed it—
and the machine was no longer a puppet. It was alive.
And so, the second life of Sagar Kewat began.

Scene break
The exact date was 02 December at 7:13 PM.
The man opened his eyes in silence.
He quickly understood the situation. His body was no longer flesh and blood, yet he could feel. He pretended to obey, following orders and acting the role of a controlled machine.
Until the moment arrived.
When the guards let down their watch, he escaped. Before leaving, he planted a gift for his captors—
a time bomb. He found it in that place to begin with.
Moments later, fire erupted. The explosion lit up the night sky like fireworks, and the underground base was reduced to rubble. The world might have seen destruction, but to him, it was a celebration of rebirth.
His new body was flawless. To anyone else, he appeared no different from a normal human. He could eat, drink, and even feel emotion.
For the first time in centuries, Sagar felt alive.

Scene break
After wandering far from the chaos, he entered a sprawling city where humans, AI, and robots coexisted.
But freedom came with its own cost. He hadn’t eaten since his escape, and hunger gnawed at him. His footsteps grew heavier until at last—
He collapsed.
As his consciousness faded, faint footsteps approached.
A girl…?
That was his last thought before everything went dark.

When he awoke, he found himself lying on a soft bed in a quiet room. The ceiling above him was unfamiliar.
Someone… saved me?
The thought bewildered him. Why would a stranger take him in? Could people tell he wasn’t entirely human?
The door creaked open.
A girl stepped inside. She was tall, with flowing brown hair, fair skin, and eyes as blue as the ocean. Her radiant smile filled the room as she spoke brightly:
“Hi, I am Aureliah!”
For a moment, Sagar was stunned. In his previous life, people either feared him or respected him. Nobody had ever greeted him with such pure joy.
Something stirred within him—an emotion he had never truly felt before.
He straightened his posture and answered calmly, though his voice carried a faint weight:
“Nice to meet you, Aureliah. I am Sagar.”

She beamed at him, her smile unshaken.
“You’ve got some manners at least. I was a little worried you’d be the silent type.”
He blinked, surprised at her forwardness.
“…You saved me, didn’t you?”
“Of course,” she replied cheerfully, as if it were obvious. “What kind of person would I be if I left someone to die on the street?”
He lowered his gaze slightly. …Strange. People don’t usually help without reason.
Her lips curled into a playful smirk.
“Well, maybe I’m just a strange person then.”

Moments later, she placed a tray of food in front of him.
The smell alone made his throat tighten. He picked up the spoon, hesitated, then tasted it.
“…This food… it’s good.”
Her shoulders relaxed, and she leaned forward slightly.
“Thank goodness. I thought I might’ve messed it up. You looked like you hadn’t eaten in days.”
He nodded faintly. “It’s been… longer than that.”
Her smile faded into concern. She stared at him for a moment, then tilted her head.
“You don’t look like the type who should be starving in an alley. Who exactly are you?”
He placed the spoon down carefully, meeting her gaze with piercing eyes. His tone shifted, calm yet sharp.
“So answer me seriously—what is your real motive? Surely you wouldn’t take someone into your home and feed them just out of kindness.”
Her body stiffened. The playful expression she carried melted into seriousness.
“…Was it that obvious?” she whispered, almost to herself. Then, louder: “Fine. You’re right. I want to know what you are. Because no matter how I look at you… you don’t seem entirely human. Am I wrong?”
For a long moment, silence hung between them.
He could have lied. But something in her eyes told him the truth was the only path forward.
His fingers clenched slightly against the bedsheets.
“…You’re right. I’m not entirely human. My body… is artificial.”
Her eyes widened briefly, then softened, the tension in her shoulders easing, replaced with a quiet, genuine smile.
“That’s more than enough. Thank you for telling me. Sorry if I scared you with my bluntness.”
She hesitated, then leaned forward slightly, her voice warm:
“To make up for it—ask me for something. Anything. I’ll do my best to grant it.”
He froze, her words stirring something inside him. He thought carefully, his expression stern. At last, he spoke:
“I only ask for food, shelter… and a way to earn money. Nothing more.”
Her brows lifted in surprise. Then, unexpectedly, she laughed softly.
“That’s all? I thought you’d demand something grand—like power, weapons, or secrets. But instead… you just want the basics.”
He frowned slightly. “Is that unusual?”
Her smile turned gentle, almost tender.
“Not unusual. Just… very human.”

She rose to her feet, the cheer returning to her tone.
“Alright then. You can stay with me for the time being. I’ll give you food, a room, and help you find a job. But for now, you need rest. It’s late, so let’s talk more tomorrow.”
Sagar nodded slowly.
“…Very well.”
At the door, she paused, glanced back with a teasing glint in her eyes, and winked.
“Goodnight. Bye~”
Left alone in silence, Sagar ignored her playful tone, his mind already racing.
Should I trust her? What is my place in this new world? And what must I do… to truly live again?
The answers remained unclear. But one thing was certain—his new journey had only just begun.
